Welcome to my Activism Blog!
I've noticed that my "article-type" writings, or at least those aimed outward (rather than being more journal-like personal reflections) tend to diverge into two streams: those which are "activisty" in nature and concerned with sociopolitical change, and those which are more... just general how-tos and interesting hacks and appreciation of media and such.
To avoid clutter, I've decided to separate out these focal areas into separate blogs. At some point I will also write a better intro for this blog. π
But for now, I'm happy just to have finally found a place to re-locate all that content into one cohesive and focused whole, and allow the non-activisty content a place to grow where it's also not drowned out!
So welcome!
What I Write
βΉοΈ Explainers: of general or tricky concepts of various topics, also sometimes just bringing a bunch of useful resources together in one place.
ποΈβπ¨οΈ Reflections, βDiscussion Fuelβ, Reactions and Commentaries: researched work or commenting on perspectives and trends I've observed in media, popular culture and the current overton window of global sociopolitics in which we as society find ourselves.
My lived experiences intersect with a lot of "not the norm" in society, but I have found many of them to be more relatable to "the mainstream" than one may think, and the experience of not fitting in with what is often cis-heteronormative, monogamous, allosexual and neurotypical society has to me tended to shed light on a lot of things that those who do fit into such societies tend not to notice.
To me as someone with a software background, I compare this to how "nobody notices when things are going well, only when they are broken". Thus, systems which work for a lot of people tend to have their glaring flaws unrecognised, until someone for whom the system does not work points them out.
Hence I have an urge to speak out on things which for me, with my own experiences, often feel frustratingly obvious and ever-present, but for many people are completely outside of the realm of what they consciously have to engage with, possibly ever.π [Almost] Journalling: though focused outwards - i.e. hopefully relevant to other people! (I do have a π Journal Blog for true journalling): my ongoing healing from CPTSD from abuse, and my experiences as an exvangelical apostate having transitioned out of the cult movement was raised in, as well as my experiences of being ASD, ADHD, nonbinary, polyamorous, experienced in (and opinionated about) kink scenes, and somewhere on the demi/ace spectrum.
